Over the years, Heidi worked in different areas of the flooring business, gaining hands-on experience with products, installation processes, and the details that go into a successful project.

Her experience extends beyond residential flooring to commercial businesses, schools, and long-term care facilities, each with its own needs and challenges. From durability and maintenance to appearance and budget, she learned that choosing the right flooring means understanding how a space will be used.

That experience shaped a philosophy that remains at the heart of Flooring America – Spencer: The most expensive product isn't necessarily the best product. What matters is finding the right solution for the customer.

Coming Full Circle

In October 2021, Heidi stepped away from flooring to work for a local restoration company specializing in water, fire, and mold damage. Even then, customers would frequently ask, "Aren't you Heidi from the flooring store?"

She missed the relationships, the problem-solving, and especially the excitement of helping customers find just the right products for their homes and businesses.

When the opportunity arose in 2024 to open her own store in the building where her career began, she knew it was time to return.

Work began June 1 to transform approximately 25,000 square feet of the building into an 8,000-square-foot showroom and 17,000-square-foot warehouse, with a July 1 opening planned.

Then came June 22, 2024.

Historic flooding devastated Spencer and surrounding communities. Floodwaters surrounded the building, stopping just one inch short of the showroom floor, sparing the new displays, materials, and work already completed.

Despite disruptions to the final preparations, Flooring America – Spencer quietly opened on July 5, 2024, with some finishing touches still underway.

By the end of July, the showroom was complete. But with so many neighbors facing the difficult task of rebuilding, Heidi felt that celebrating a new business wasn't appropriate. The grand opening was postponed until September 21, 2024.

As an independently owned member of the Flooring America cooperative, Flooring America – Spencer combines the product selection and buying power of a nationwide network with the knowledge and personal service of a local business.

The showroom offers carpet, luxury vinyl, hardwood, laminate, tile, and options for showers, backsplashes, and other projects. Whether residential or commercial, the focus remains on helping customers understand their choices and select products suited to their needs, lifestyle, and budget.

For Heidi, relationships have always been just as important as the products being sold. Taking the time to listen, answer questions, and help customers make informed decisions is the foundation of Flooring America – Spencer.
